I Hate the Tigers...

So tonight I found myself once again at Grizzly's... this time to watch the Tigers blow it like a windy day in Kansas (haha Anna)! It started out close, but then an alien came up to bat and hit a grand slam for the White Sox- (seriously he looked like he was from another planet and once the ball hit his bat he knew it was out- smiling with arms in the air- the whole nine yards). All in all it was a fun night- Brandon Swartz was even there. Jamie decided, with Anna and my encouragement, to move his stuff into our house while he transitions to move into a new split level two bedroom on Morris Thomas Road. So I came home to help him move in both his couches, beds, dressers, a kitchen table, the works. Our living room now has movie theater seating facing our 19" TV. Here's me, Anna, and our new roomie (for now).

I'm A Survivor

My torch is burning- Jacquie is still in it... and I've already been complimented on my creativity put into making my torch. Thanks to Matt and Target for making this possible, here she is:

I'm NOT Pregnant...

So today was fun, here's the dialogue:

Tourist: When are you due?
Me: I'm not due.
Tourist: You're not pregnant?
Me: Not that I know of.
Tourist: Do you want to beat me up? I was going to say you were carrying it low.
Me: Um.. it's okay.
Tourist: It's these damn shirts you girls wear.
Me: Don't worry about it. (Thinking to myself: seriously lady drop it, this is getting worse).
Tourist: Give Grandma a hug she feels bad.
Me: (Hug random tourist).

So needless to say I feel pretty good about myself; I am just reassuring myself that it was my shirt and my body's bloating issues today. I have been eating pretty bad this month so I guess this is my wake up call to get my butt in gear again.

Wanted: Creative Assistance

Today I got roped into playing our office's Survivor Challenge- for the challenge I will need to make a torch for my office. Apparently when a contestant is voted off their torch is put out- which will happen if my contestant is voted off. I already have a long cardboard cylinder for the torch, however I'm not sure how to construct mine to be the best. Any ideas?

Also if you're into the show (I've never watched) it premieres tonight and my contestant is Jacquie- hopefully she wins it all.

Another Stabbing

When I informed people I would be traveling by bus into Canada for Megan's second wedding reception, I often heard the classic, "Don't get stabbed" advice- thanks to a stabbing that had occurred on a Greyhound bus in Canada. I'm not saying that incident didn't cross my mind while commuting the short drive into Surrey or that I slept on the drive (because I didn't); but I never felt I was in real danger. Well Perez is reporting that there was yet another stabbing on a Greyhound.

So I guess I am thanking my lucky stars I traveled with Amtrak/contemplating if my next trip will involve a bus or a direct flight.

Update

Anna and I should be mechanics- we were right, it was the security feature on my car that made it unusable on Saturday. I get to pick it up today and pay a nice little $158 for a towing, them discovering what we already knew, oh, and they added some oil (you know just in case).

The Worst Weekend of my Life

Friday was supposed to be a mellow fun night with the girls:
It began with us winning the Trivia Game, as the Divers... taken from our previous night's experiences at Grizzly's)... Me- talking to this guy who ordered Coronas with Bacardi Limon in it and had me try- not too bad surprisingly... And of course, eating the yummy chips...
Then me deciding to welcome Captain back to my life (and yes there was an outfit change)...
Posing with Janna for our last night out before she moves (I'm still mad at you- haha)...
Dancing up a storm... Being awesome (so I've been told!)...Then things went bad- the next morning my car wouldn't start (still no word on its status), I had it towed, was late for work, had to have my sister Libby (on her Birthday) drive me to Two Harbors where I met my Mom and took her car... To top everything off- today I got pulled over, in Silver Bay- right where everyone can drive by and see me- EMBARRASSING. Thankfully no ticket though- maybe my luck is changing?

A Blogworthy Evening

Last night Anna asked me to come to Grizzly's- 2 for 1s and 1/2 price appetizers- YES it would be silly to pass it up. We were the first to arrive and each had 2 titanic teas down before our friends got there. When Mark came I went to take a picture of him and Anna- mid shot he asked where his camera was (Anna lost it in Canada)- I was able to capture the reactions using my Mom's Canon Powershot A540:
I was depressed about living in Duluth when I saw these guys- seriously check out that stache??? A bar full of guys- not one caught my eye- pray for me :)
Deep down I knew it wasn't good to do this on a work night- but I decided to order some more drinks...
I was really happy Char's husband Bruce could come- he's a fun guy...
We overheard some guys- clearly at the ripe age of 21- talking about some "___-diving." Obviously Anna used this to make it a blogworthy night, she went up to them and said, "I heard your muff rhyme- so my friend wants a picture of us..." HAHA! A while later they turned to our table and said, "If your muff'n you're diving." To which Anna replied, "If you're snatchin you're snatchin'" Um.... WHAT??? I wrote down the conversation on the back of my Amtrak bus ticket so I wouldn't forget any of it- yes I still have my ticket...Some how we started playing the straw bounce game??? Basically the straw would bounce in the can then into a glass- I didn't even make the can, but Anna was pretty damn good...
The muff boys asked us to go to the Copasetic with them, but suprisingly we were responsible and went home (aren't you proud Megan?) It was clearly bed time...
Mike still has a home on our fridge...
When I was on Venice Beach with Matt I saw a fire show on the street- so I grabbed the lighter fluid to show Anna how it went...
We went upstairs- facebooked, then headed to bed- on my way out the door this morning I took one look back and this is what I saw. Yes that is a vase- nice work Anna :)

When in Canada do as the Canadians do???

Let me attempt to sum this up- my long weekend spent with some of my favorite people in the world in one of the best places on Earth- Megan's new home British Columbia :)

As previously discussed my trip involved a drive, fly, shuttle, and bus trip to my final destination where Megan, Anna (who had landed earlier in Vancouver), and Amy (Megan's new sister in law) picked me up. From there we went to White Rock, it was gorgeous, we enjoyed Apps and 3 pitchers of beer (yes I said 3)... kind of set the tone for the trip!
The next days involved relaxing, preparing Megan's second wedding, the best Chinese food I've ever had, decorating, getting dolled up, and inevitably waiting for our ride to the reception. At the wedding I got sat with some really fun people- obviously I'm not shy so I didn't have a hard time making friends. Before I knew it my "new friends" had brought out this little game- aka the death of me. Oh dear baby Jesus, I think this one is for me. I suffered some minor injuries that night: a concussion, severely injured my shoulder, scrapes on both knees and hips, and a sore tailbone- utter humiliation to say the least. Sunday was the gift opening and I had a blast lounging, eating, and enjoying the company of Mike and Megan's families. Then we headed to Vancouver for Italian food and a tour compliments of Mike's Dad- we saw the hooker/crackhead district and all the other cool parts of the town. Our last day was GORGEOUS outside- we enjoyed an outdoor lunch at Dublin's then trekked to the park to lie in the sun. The middle school students were playing soccer so Megan took us on a shortcut.I apparently couldn't handle "off roading" it with the girls- when we finally set up camp my feet were completely tore up and dirty- Megan and Anna's were not. Our "camp" was next to the softball field, Anna had stripped down to her swimsuit when we heard some jr. high boys heading our way, turns out it was the entire 8th grade gym class coming to play ball. You can see them all coming in the background- and once again another embarrassing moment in our trip. As Anna threw her dress back on the little boys yelled, "That's okay hunny." To make matters even better/worse, when we were finally ready to walk home school was just getting out and everyone was waiting for their ride while we made our way through the crowd.
When we got back Megan put neosporin on me- I miss her SOOO much! Our last night we headed to the Dublin for some drinks with friends- obviously debated the question everyone is asking, "What do you think of Sarah Palin?" Seriously- I sat back, didn't say a word, and laughed at Dan trying to lighten the mood by dancing in his chair. I also tried my first Irish Car Bomb, shocking it was my first I know, and ps it was my last- I'll stick to JagBombs thanks :) The next morning we woke up bright and early, although not early enough- this is us chasing my bus to the border (you may have already heard this story if you read Megan's blog). We caught it at the border and I said a quick good bye- jumped on board and cried the whole way to Seattle.
When I boarded the plane I thought my luck was changing- I had the row to myself, but of course the last passenger to board was my new neighbor. It gets worse, he is quite the talker. Mid-flight at about 36,000 feet he leans over and says, "Can I ask you a question, what do you think of Sarah Palin?" SERIOUSLY- I was doing everything in my power to avoid the topic/try not to laugh thinking of the previous night's conversations. My plane landed safe and sound, I drove back to Duluth, got home around 12:30 am and woke up to the real world- aka the job from hell.

Back in 1958...

So I know, I know... I need to post about last weekend in BC- but I just don't feel like it right now- sorry I'm an honest person. Until then, check out this cool thing we saw on my friend Jamie's facebook. It's called http://www.yearbookyourself.com/ Enjoy:

Also- Dear Megan, I just checked the web page and the job is gone- I plan to continue the search.
